The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce announced 32 finalists for its 2007 Small Business Awards.

"It's been one of the Chamber's signature events for quite some time," Chamber President Tony Howard said.

The Chamber will announce the winners Nov. 7 at a black tie dinner at Washington Hilton Dulles Airport, before a room of more than 500 county business and community leaders at the annual gala awards dinner. Winners are chosen in each of eight categories; they include agriculture and equine; entrepreneur; home based business; product; retail; service; small business; and technology.

The 32 finalists were selected by 20 people, who formed small committees of business leaders and industry specialists, carefully examined more than 256 nominations from various businesses and entrepreneurs in Loudoun County. Businesses are not eligible to win if they have been winner or finalist for the past three years.

"A lot of it had to do with deciding whether the business is successful, unique, with entrepreneurial skill and talent," Howard said. "A lot of it is subjective. We were looking for really good stories. This is really about celebrating all of the wonderful stories that don't get celebrated enough."

In its 13th year, the 2007 Small Business Awards are sponsored by The Loudoun County Economic Development Commission, PNC Bank, Middleburg Bank, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, to name a few. Tickets to the 2007 Small Business Awards are on sale now and key sponsorship packages are also available.
