Children and families may enjoy a fall day outdoors at Saturday's Joshua's Hands Fall Festival, taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in western Loudoun County.

The annual event is held in memory of Joshua Guthrie, who died in a car accident in 1998 at the age of 16. Guthrie's parents established Joshua's Hands to carry on ministry efforts started by their son, one of which is the Fall Festival.

This year, organizers expect to entertain some 1,500 children, their parents and caregivers from across the area. Attendees will enjoy taking part in any number of attractions including games, pony rides, crafts, free food and live entertainment.

Festival veterans Gold Heart Bluegrass will return once more to play on the main stage from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m., featuring the Grammy award-winning Peasall sisters. Preceding Gold Heart is live entertainment from Action Mimes, Sunday Obsession and a surprise guest yet to be announced. The popular Blue Ridge Thunder Cloggers will close out the main stage entertainment from 4:30 to 5 p.m.

On the food court stage, live acts including Kim Pittiner, Lane Wolf and others entertain as visitors dine on a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In order to raise money for the organization's ministry projects and pay for the festival, a silent auction will take place featuring impressive items such as tickets to a Washington Wizards game, iPod Shuffle and Nano units, a white water rafting trip, jewelry, pottery and more. Those wishing to take part in the auction may do so between 1:45 and 3:15 p.m. Donation buckets will also be peppered throughout the festival where patrons' funds will contribute to summer camp and college scholarships sponsored by Joshua's Hands.

The 2008 festival is located in the southeast corner field near the intersection of Routes 9 and 287 in western Loudoun County.
